What helps me stay focused is not how I am failing at it now, or that my choice to use the analog stick to jump is making life a lot harder at the moment.
What drives me is that in a year from now I’ll have mastered this, as well as other movement options and will be way better than I am today.
I am motivated by the fact that grinding it out now means that it will be an unconscious skill down the line.
I also motivate myself with crazy goals. My current crazy goal is to reach Top 8 in BAM 2018. This will require insane growth and a stella performance.
Rationally it’s unachievable, but by believing it I am motivated to practice, which may lead to me actually achieving it.
