After some reflection I realised that my goals for 2017 were ridiculously ambitious and unrealistic. Sometimes they are the best goals, but in this case I just didn’t realise how hard it would be to grow in my skill level as a player as well as how hard it would be to find the time to practice.
So with all that in mind here are my initial goals for 2018. These may need to be changed as I might seek to work harder to save a house deposit instead, but for now this is what they are.
Get on the Queensland PR before the end of 2018
Initially I wanted to get on the PR by the middle on 2018. However to get on thatPR I need to start taking games off PR ranked players almost immediately. While I’m close to Thriles/Scared/XP2000/Brad I don’t know if I’ll be taking games off them until at least half way through the year.
So rather than aim for it in the next 6 months, I’ll aim for it in the back end of the year.
Top 32 at BAM
Last year Thriles came 33rd at BAM, and while I’m not quite at the level now that he was at last year at BAM I think I’m fairly close and should be able to get there by May.
Last year I cam 97th.
This goal is ambitious, but I actually think it is realistic.
Top 32 at OHN
Last year I came 49th, Thriles came 25th and Scared came 33rd.
I think top 32 is realistic as the tournament isn’t until September.
Exceed my old peak ELO of 1,909
I previously peaked at 1,909 in ELO after beating JBirds with my peach. Looking back at that game I can actually see I am already a better player now than I was back then.
I would like to pass my old peak ELO to cement once and for all that I am now better as Puff than I ever was as Peach.
730 hours of practice
365 days a year, 2 hours per day = 730 hours of practice.
