Total time: 3 Hours 15 Minutes
Despite just over 2 hours practice today I feel like Melee consumed my entire day.
Need to get better at getting my practice time done and then moving on with my day.
– At low-mid % when you upair fox and a second upair likely to miss, fair can be used.
– Puff can upair opponents from under the battlefield ledge (outside of the 3 downward facing spikes). This could be a good way to pressure safely at the ledge
5m – Shield Drop Practice
Notes: Within about 10 seconds my shield drops were perfect. No need to warm it up anymore, it’s becoming an unconsicous skill.
15m – SH Practice
Notes: Focused on standing SH full drift aerial FFs. Was fairly consistent but had to focus otherwise I would end up full hopping.
Noticed that I need to practice running SH forward as this is my weakest type of SH atm. I also need to practice standing SHHFLs in game under pressure.
30m – Fox Punish Practice (Lvl1 Vanilla FoD)
Notes: Practiced timings double bairing fox offstage at low %. Also practiced covering fox’s DJ to ledge. Realised I need to practice uptilt more as often it doesn’t come out properly. Overall just got more comfortable comboing fox.
15m – Labbing Roll>Rest vs Fox/Falco getup attack
Notes: Not a guaranteed rest and actually kills you if they shield due to the knockback from the rest. So basically don’t do this!
It can actually work if they don’t shield, but so frame tight that it wouldn’t really be worth going for.
5m – Crouching WDs
30m – Netplay vs DomHynes
Notes: He rotated between characters, I won most games but lost a few.
35m – Netplay vs Jakyeet (Falcon/Falco)
Notes: Went even with his falcon, with his falcon having a slight edge over me. His Falco beat me pretty good though.
20m – Crouching WDs
Notes: Feeling faster, getting longer wavesdashes and hand hurting less
10m – Jump Cancel Grab Practice
Notes: This is very easy tech which minimizes lag by 9-10 frames and a grab that comes out earlier. Within 10 minutes I had it down. Now I just need to remember to use it in gameplay
10m – Upsmash OOS
Notes: Starting off the timing was really bad. Would often get upairs. After about 3 minutes I was 80-90% consistent. Realised at about 6/7 minutes that I was using my left finger for the shield instead of right. Fixed that up took about 30 seconds and timing was back to being 90% accurate.
10m – Crouching WDs + Grabs
Notes: Because WDing with L trigger if I hold L trigger it’s easier to get the fastest grab timing after a WD than using right trigger.
Practiced against a Lvl1 Vanilla fox and noticed that the pressure made me grip the controller way harder and my hand got sorer faster
10m – Watching my match vs Jakyeet
– A lot of my aerials are just mistimed. I’m generally too early and need to wait and attack at better times
– I never short hop and rarely WD. I also never WDOOS
